This April, Singapore will host a truly special musical event that brings the soul of Italy to life through its most iconic cultural tradition: Italian opera.
🎶 What is Bel Canto?
“Bel canto” means “beautiful singing” in Italian — and that’s exactly what you’ll experience. It’s a vocal style that emerged in Italy in the late 17th century and reached its golden age in the works of Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini during the 19th century.
What sets Bel Canto apart is its combination of sublime melodic beauty and vocal athleticism. The arias are written to showcase incredible vocal agility, with soaring high notes, delicate trills, and dramatic emotion. It’s a feast for the ears and the soul — and a window into the expressive power of the Italian language.

This performance will be curated by Shridar Mani, a passionate advocate of opera and classical music. He brings together a diverse cast of international opera talent to honor the timeless heroines of Bel Canto opera.
The evening features:

- 🇰🇷 Renata Hann, Korean soprano
- 🇭🇰 Samantha Chong, mezzosoprano from Hong Kong
- 🇸🇬 Martin Ng, baritone from Singapore
🎹 All accompanied by pianist Samuel King
Together, they will interpret the works of Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti — bringing to life tragic queens, fiery lovers, and courageous heroines with vocal fireworks and emotional intensity.
