SCHEDULE
PROGRAM
GROUP CLASSES
Each group class includes 3-8 students and will commence with a minimum of 3 students. Courses are offered on a modular basis (from module 1 to module 3) and each module follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). Each teaching class lasts 2 hours, for a total of 12 classes (24 hours) per module. The A1 book will be issued on the first day of lesson and will be used for all of the 3 modules.
PRIVATE CLASSES
1:1 private classes are offered both inside and outside the school, varying from a 10-hour package (once per week) to a 20-hour package (twice per week). They are customised according to the student’s needs and each package can be repurchased.
At the end of their three A1 modules, our students reach the “breakthrough level” in Italian (elementary level: A1) and are able to understand and use familiar expressions for their everyday life. They can communicate by using common sentences to satisfy their concrete needs (e.g. asking for directions, making reservations, talking about their personal life, etc.). They can also introduce themselves or other people and ask about other people’s lives by interacting in a simple way, provided that their interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly.
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE
Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance (9 lessons out of 12) to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance awarded by the Singapore Italian School.
CERTIFICATION
By reaching the A1 level, the student has a basic knowledge of the Italian language and is able to test their Italian language knowledge through the language exam CELI level A1. The CELI certification is a qualification issued by the University of Perugia, which declares the level of linguistic and communicative competences in Italian as a foreign language.
Our students can take this exam at the end of their A1.3 module, once they have completed successfully all of the 3 modules A1. At the end of each module (A1.1, A1.2, A1.3) they will be tested with a 50-minutes exam based on the topics learned in the module, which however does not function as a language certificate.
The CELI Impatto (A1 level exam) is divided into 6 parts which will test the student’s written comprehension (part 1), their written production and interaction (parts 2 and 3), their oral comprehension (part 4) and oral production (monologue on a topic, part 5) and interaction (dialogue with the examiner, part 6). To complete part 1 – part 3 you will be given 1 hours and 15 minutes followed by a break, while part 4-6 will take 5 minutes.
