Italian Language Course B2.1 Upper Intermediate

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Our school offers both group and private classes of Italian.
Each group class includes 4-8 students and will commence with a minimum of 4 students. Courses are offered on a modular basis (from module 1 to module 3) and each module follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). Each teaching class lasts 2 hours, for a total of 12 classes (24 hours) per module. The B2 book will be issued on the first day of lesson and will be used for all of the 3 modules.
1:1 private classes are offered both inside and outside the school, varying from a 10-hour package (once per week) to a 20-hour package (twice per week). They are customized according to the student’s needs and each package can be repurchased.
At the end of their three B2 modules, our students reach the “vantage level” in Italian (upper intermediate level: B2) and are able to understand the key ideas in complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical communications related to the students’ field of specialisation. They can interact spontaneously with native speakers and produce clear and articulated texts on a wide variety of topics, by adding also their personal opinion about them showing the pros and cons of the different options.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE
Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance (9 lessons out of 12) to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance awarded by the Singapore Italian School.
CERTIFICATION
By reaching the B2 level, the student has an upper-intermediate knowledge of the Italian language and is able to test their Italian language knowledge through the language exam CILS level B2. The CILS certification is a qualification issued by the university which declares the level of linguistic and communicative competences in Italian as a foreign language.
Our students can take this exam at the end of their B2.3 module, once they have completed all of the 3 modules B2. At the end of each module (B2.1, B2.2, B2.3) they will be tested with a 50-minutes exam based on the topics learned in the module, which however does not function as a language certificate.
The CELI 3 (B2 level exam) is divided into 5 parts which will test the student’s written comprehension (part 1), their written production (parts 2), their linguistic competence (part 3), their oral comprehension (part 4) and oral production (part 5). To complete part 1 and part 2 you will be given 2 hours and 15 minutes followed by a break; part 3 will take 45 minutes, while part 4 and 5 will take 25 and 15 minutes respectively.
