Italian Language Course B1.1 Intermediate

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Our school offers both group and private classes of Italian.
Each group class includes 4-8 students and will commence with a minimum of 4 students. Courses are offered on a modular basis (from module 1 to module 3) and each module follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). Each teaching class lasts 2 hours, for a total of 12 classes (24 hours) per module. The B1 book will be issued on the first day of lesson and will be used for all of the 3 modules.
1:1 private classes are offered both inside and outside the school, varying from a 10-hour package (once per week) to a 20-hour package (twice per week). They are customized according to the student’s needs and each package can be repurchased.
At the end of their three B1 modules, our students reach the “threshold level” in Italian (intermediate level: B1) and are able to understand the key facts in clear messages conveyed in standard Italian on familiar topics which are used in everyday life situations (e.g. at work, at school, in their free time, etc). They can survive in those difficult situations that might occur while travelling to those places where Italian is spoken. They can write simple and coherent texts on familiar topics and can describe events, experiences, dreams, wishes, hopes and ambitions by supporting their descriptions with simple reasons and opinions.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE
Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance (9 lessons out of 12) to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance awarded by the Singapore Italian School.
CERTIFICATION
By reaching the B1 level, the student has an intermediate knowledge of the Italian language and is able to test their Italian language knowledge through the language exam CILS level B1. The CILS certification is a qualification issued by the university which declares the level of linguistic and communicative competences in Italian as a foreign language.
Our students can take this exam at the end of their B1.3 module, once they have completed all of the 3 modules B1. At the end of each module (B1.1, B1.2, B1.3) they will be tested with a 50-minutes exam based on the topics learned in the module, which however does not function as a language certificate.
The CILS B1 level exam is divided into 5 parts which will test the student’s oral comprehension (part 1), the written comprehension (part 2), the grammatical structure knowledge (part 3), the written production (part 4) and the oral production (part 4). To complete part 1 – part 4 you will be given 3 hours and 45 minutes (with a 15-minute break before part 3), while part 5 will take 10 minutes and will test both your oral interaction (dialogue with your teacher) and oral production (monologue on a topic) skills.
The CELI 2 (B1 level exam) is divided into 4 parts which will test the student’s written comprehension (part 1), their written production (parts 2), their oral comprehension (part 3) and oral production (part 4). To complete part 1 – part 3 you will be given 2 hours and 20 minutes followed by a break, while part 4 will take 15 minutes.
